First MTP Fusion

A surgical procedure to fuse the joint at the base of the big toe, alleviating pain and correcting deformities caused by arthritis or other conditions.
Book appointment

First Metatarsophalangeal (MTP) Fusion involves removing the damaged cartilage from the big toe joint and permanently joining the bones using screws or plates. This procedure is commonly performed to treat severe arthritis, such as hallux rigidus, or significant deformities like bunions (hallux valgus). By fusing the joint, the surgery aims to eliminate pain, improve foot function, and correct deformities, though it results in the loss of movement at the fused joint.
